[Updated With Photo] Suspect Sent to Hospital After Being Nabbed by K9 Unit
This is a press release from the Fortuna Police Department. The information has not been proven in a court of law and the individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:
FORTUNA, CA – On 6/20/2015 at approximately 6:00pm, Officers with the Fortuna Police Department and Fortuna Police K9 Nordy responded to the 1000 block of S. Fortuna Blvd for the report of Subjects attempting to remove plywood from the residence. Upon arrival the officers located a unsecured door that had been forced open.
Fortuna Police Officers and K9 Nordy conducted a search of the interior of the residence. K9 Nordy located and apprehended the subject later identified as Gregory Gilbert (Age 42 of Eureka) upstairs in the residence. Gilbert was arrested for burglary. Officers and K9 Nordy completed the search of the rest of the residence and under the residence for a possible second suspect. Officers were unable to locate anyone but Gilbert in the residence. Gilbert was cleared for booking at Redwood Memorial Hospital then transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where he was booked for Burglary.
