Laura Coleman, spokesperson for Cal Fire, said there was a small fire on Huckleberry
Hill Road and “two other fires in Pecwan at the same time as the huckleberry.”
Coleman said the fire on Huckleberry
Hill Road was a half an acre in size with “no structures involved” and estimated the two fires in Pecwan, which were about a mile apart, were 2.5 acres each.
Colman said Redway Fire, Briceland Fire, Telegraph Ridge Fire and Whitethorn Fire responded to the “Huckleberry Incident.” Cal Fire sent two hand crews to the Huckleberry
Hill Road fire.
“Basic response from us of course,” Coleman said.
Additionally, fire crews from Orleans Fire, Fortuna Fire, Humboldt Bay Fire, Hoopa Fire and Cal Fire assisted with the Pecwan Fires. Cal Fire sent six “Type 1” hand crews and five engines. The United States Forest Service assisted with coverage.
Coleman said, “Those will have a small day shift on them tomorrow, and then they’ll go into check status.”
