Two Vehicle Fires; At Least one is ‘Possible Arson’
Scanner Traffic indicates a vehicle fire near the river bar near Ferndale. Voices over the scanner said it is a “fully engulfed car.” Not a lot of information is available on this incident, so we will update when we find out more.
UPDATE 11:17 P.M.: According to the scanner, there has been an ongoing issue with the vehicle being parked there, and someone lit the car on fire.
UPDATE 11:40 P.M.: A dispatcher said over the scanner that the fire near Fernbridge is “possible arson.” The dispatcher is saying the fire was “under the bridge.”
UPDATE 12:03 A.M.: According to the scanner, the vehicle involved was a 1994 Honda Accord. Fish and Wildlife had been contacted earlier in the day to handle what they are referring to as an “abatement issue.” The vehicle involved in the fire matches the VIN number of the vehicle Fish and Wildlife had as the subject of the abatement.
UPDATE 11:21 P.M.: Additionally, a truck on fire is being reported at the cross of Bay Street and Old Navy Base Road near Samoa.
UPDATE 11:23 P.M.: The vehicle near Samoa is “fully involved.”
UPDATE 11:30 P.M.: “Fire’s out. Rollin’ up hose.”
UPDATE 12:25 A.M.: According to the CHP report, the fire is being considered ‘suspicious,’ and the incident is going to be transferred to the Bureau of Land Management.
