[UPDATE 3:53 P.M.] Another Fire Breaks out Near Weitchpec

UPDATE 3:53 P.M.: Cal Fire spokesperson Laura Coleman said the fire, which is in the “Pecwan area,” is about 1/4 acre in size, has a “slow rate of spread” and is not threatening any structures. Fire crews are expecting “quick containment,” and they have not yet determined a cause.

Coleman said, “1 Air Tactical, 1 Air Tanker, 1 Copter, Engines, USFS water tenders, cal fire crews and overhead responding and/or at scene.”

ORIGINALLY: Scanner traffic indicates another fire has started near Weitchpec and Highway 169. This fire is being referred to as the “Johnson Incident” at this point. Details about the fire are scarce, but we will update when we have more information.
