Victim Chases Down Alleged Car Thief

This is a press release from the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and the individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

Fee, Anna

Fee, Anna

On 06-06-2015 at approximately 12:11 AM, Mendocino County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the 22000 block of Branscomb Road in Westport, California to the report of a vehicle theft.

Sheriff Deputies responded to the location and contacted the victim who related that he had picked up a female hitchhiker earlier in the afternoon.  The victim provided a ride to the 22000 block of Branscomb Road, letting her out of the vehicle near his residence.

The female stayed in the area the remainder of the day.  To remove the hitchhiker from the area of his residence, the victim then provided the female a ride into the town of Westport and returned home.

At about midnight, the victim heard a vehicle in his driveway.  The victim looked out his window and observed his vehicle backing down his driveway and then turn west on Branscomb Road.

The victim and his friends pursued the vehicle and stopped it near the end of his driveway.  The victim removed from the female hitchhiker from the vehicle and contacted law enforcement.

The hitchhiker, later identified as Anna Fee, was arrested at the scene by Sheriff Deputies.

Fee provided false identification to the Sheriff Deputies and was ultimately charged with vehicle theft and for providing false identification.

Fee was booked into the Mendocino County Jail where she was to be held in lieu of $15,000.00 bail.

Is this guy nuts? You don’t drop off a hitch hiker anywhere near where you live. Drop them off at a gas station (or police department) or something distant from where you live for this very reason.

As is so often the case… I wish I knew the whole story. In any case, no man in his right mind would pick up a female that he didn’t know without a witness along. The cops won’t even haul a woman to jail without a matron in the car. The guy probably knows why now. I wonder who the real victim was? At least take the keys out of your car!

Ah… life in the fast lane
