Vegetation Fire on Wrigley Road

Scanner traffic indicated a vegetation fire near the intersection of Elk River Road and Wrigley Road after 5 p.m. today. This reporter attempted to drive out there but was told fire was actually located near Camp Riggs Johnston — formerly Elk River Scout Camp — which is on private property. Humboldt Bay Fire and Cal Fire were responding to the scene, and at least two helicopters were hovering around the area. We will update when we have more information.
