Vehicle Overturned Near Myers Flat

eaglepCHP dispatch is reporting an overturned vehicle south of Myers Flat. Scanner traffic reports, “Vehicular rollover on Hwy 101 blocking the number two lane.” The accident appears to have occurred just after the Eagle Point Viaduct on the northbound side.

First reports indicate an SUV spun out, hit the guardrail and rolled over.

UPDATE 5/20: Jasmine Christianson, age 19, of Miranda, was arrested for driving under the influence at 9:28 p.m. and taken to the Jerold Phelps Hospital in Garberville for treatment of minor injuries.

Going north on 101 that’s a long steep hill leading into the turn at the bottom, and it’s easy to gain speed on it and misjudge the turn. The most dangerous turn on 101 is at the top of the hill, if you are going southwards because the road is banked so that it tends to slide you into the northbound lanes – exactly the opposite effect from that which banking is intended to achieve.
