Big Waves Predicted the Next Few Days

Going to the beach? Be extra careful, please. Especially if the beach is south facing like Shelter Cove. The US Weather Service explained, “Southerly long period waves will begin to impact south facing beaches on Sunday and continue into Tuesday, resulting in larger than normal breaking waves and increased rip current activity. These waves may result in breakers as large as 6 to 8 feet, in the larger sets.”

Also, the ocean may seem peaceful but then large waves can roll in. According to the Weather Service, “Lulls of 15 to 25 minutes are possible between the largest sets of breaking waves.”

It should be sunny later today at the beach but choose where you play very carefully and don’t turn your back on the ocean.
