CapturePress release provided by Boys and Girls Club of the Redwoods:

U.S. Cellular today announced a $5,000 donation to the Boys & Girls Club of the Redwoods in Eureka in support of their science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) programming. The donation is part of U.S. Cellular’s $1.25 million national commitment to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the National 4-H Council.
This commitment will enhance the learning experience for youth and communities by championing K-12 and STEM educational programs. The Boys & Girls Club of the Redwoods serves around 4,000 youth in Humboldt County. This focused approach ensures that U.S. Cellular is positively impacting the communities where its associates work, live and play.
“As a wireless company with national coverage driven by innovative technology, it’s a natural fit that we focus on STEM programming, as it helps develop our future associate base,” said Jeff Heeley, director of sales for U.S. Cellular’s Northwest market. “We are excited to engage with the Eureka community and support the local Boys & Girls Club chapter.”

“We’re excited that U.S. Cellular shares our commitment to helping youth and advancing our STEM efforts,” said Liz Smith, executive director of the Boys & Girls Club of the Redwoods. “This commitment will have a positive lasting impact on club youth.”

U.S. Cellular has a longstanding commitment to the community and education. The company has contributed more than $7 million to local elementary and secondary schools since 2009.
