Man Allegedly Threatens to Shoot Someone, Later Arrested With Handgun and Drugs

Lindsey, WilliamThis is a press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and the individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

On 04/16/15 at about 1:45 a.m., an officer with the Eureka Police Department was hailed by a citizen near the 1000 block of Myrtle Avenue. The citizen told the Officer that an unknown male had just threatened to shoot him. The officer obtained a description of the subject and the citizen’s contact information.

At about 1:53 a.m., the same officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle near the 500 block of N Street. A passenger in the vehicle matched the description of the subject who threatened to shoot the citizen just minutes earlier. The passenger was identified as William Allen Lindsey, 33 of Eureka.

A records check revealed Lindsey had a felony warrant for a parole violation. Lindsey was taken into custody without incident. Lindsey was found to be in possession of a loaded 9 mm handgun with the serial number removed, brass knuckles, and possession of heroin and methamphetamine for the purpose of sales.

While on scene, Officers conducted an “In the field show up”, and the victim positively identified Lindsey as the person who had threatened to shoot him. Lindsey was transported and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility for felon in possession of a firearm, possession of metal knuckles, carrying a loaded firearm, possession of a firearm with altered identification, felon in possession of ammunition, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance for sales, and for a felony parole violation warrant.

What is the motivation behind approaching a stranger and threatening to kill them? Maybe these people should be sentenced to handing out gift baskets to strangers, helping old ladies cross the road, mowing lawns and pulling weeds, or painting fences for strangers?

Something needs to be done to make a tough guy image socially unacceptable. They did it with smoking, why not violence?
