Thousands Without Power on Saturday

Saturday afternoon many North Coast residents were without electricity:

Original post: Thousands of PG&E customers without power between Arcata and Orick since about four. The company estimates that the power will not be restored until 7:45 p.m. As yet, the cause is unknown.

UPDATE 5:45 p.m.: A PG&E spokesperson says that multiple substations have been affected by the series of incidents that began at 3:27 p.m. At this point, there are 3999 customers without power.

UPDATE 6:55 p.m.: Almost all customers have had powered restored.

If you don’t have a Plan B, like a generator in this day and age you’re either an idiot, rely on the government too much or both.

Power back on here in Blue Lake at 5:50. I was very glad it came on earlier than estimated.

Could have been much worse, if those smart meters shorted out and caught fire like they did a couple weeks ago.
