EPD Honors Two Local Men for Their Heroic Actions
Press release provided by Eureka Police Department:
During the regular session of tomorrow’s Eureka City Council meeting (6:00 PM on April 7, 2015) the Eureka Police Department will be honored to be present two Valor-Service challenge coin awards to well-deserving citizens in our community.
Award recipient Jaime Petersen is being honored for his courageous and decisive actions as a security officer on February 23, 2015 when he stopped a life threatening attack on an innocent victim at the Bayshore Mall.
Award recipient Mark Steinke is being honored for his selfless actions on June 9th, 2014 when he came to the aid of an EPD officer who was struggling alone with a violently resisting suspect wanted for several felony warrants. Mr. Steinke was nominated for this award by the very appreciative officer he assisted, Tim Cooper.
Mr. Petersen and Mr. Steinke will each receive award letters from Chief Mills along with specially minted EPD “challenge coins” during the presentation before the Mayor and City Council.
