EPD Commends Officer

This is a press release from the Eureka Police Department.

Cooper_Tim_064Over the past year, Officer Tim Cooper’s actions as a police officer have been stellar, his behavior as a human being exceptional. In addition to being an active Field Training Officer and Watch Commander, Officer Cooper has excelled at street level enforcement.Officer Cooper was recognized nationally for the largest seizure of explosive materials on a proactive enforcement effort. On his own accord Officer Cooper lobbied to get Humboldt County designated as a High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) bringing money and resources to the county.

During one five week period, Officer Cooper authored several search warrants, seized 7.3 pounds of Methamphetamine, 1.9 pounds of Heroin, 451 Ecstasy tabs, 15 pounds of processed Marijuana, 3 guns and $185,000 in currency.

His actions continue to this day taking 130 more pounds of Marijuana and $27,000 in assets this month. More importantly, Officer Cooper is a man of integrity, treating all with respect, dignity and fairness.

Tim, you are commended for your commitment to excellence in policing, desire to improve the City of Eureka and the passion with which you approach this profession.
