Man Allegedly Attempts to Break Down Elderly Fortuna Woman’s Door and Steal Her Car

Fidler, Danny (1)According to Fortuna Police Sergeant Charles Ellebrecht at 6:42 a.m. today, his department received a 911 call from an elderly woman in 2000 block of Shamrock Drive. The woman said a man was attempting to force entrance to her residence.

The man went into the residence and demanded the keys to her vehicle. Reportedly, reassuring her that he wasn’t going to hurt her… The woman wouldn’t give them to him.

Eventually, the man “fled before we got there,” Ellebrecht said. However, according to the sergeant, with the “assistance of citizens and a K9 from the Eureka Police Department, the man was located and arrested.”

“He appeared to be under the influence,” Ellebrecht said.

Daniel Fidler, age 41 was arrested at 7:47 a.m.. Fidler “had a warrant for breaking his Non-violent Offenders Post Community Release Supervision,” said the Fortuna Police Sergeant.  Fidler was recently arrested in the company of  Logan Bremer, a suspect in another home invasion robbery which occurred in Southern Humboldt.

how the fk does a home invasion suspect get bail?

‘Fidler was arrested for the felony warrant along with fresh charges for, possession of stolen property, burglary, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, convicted felon in possession of ammunition, possession of burglary tools, carrying a loaded firearm, possession of heroin, methamphetamine and marijuana. Fidler was transported and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility and is currently being held with no bail, because of his felony parole warrant.’

(from the loco article.. http://lostcoastoutpost.com/2015/jan/27/neighbors-interrupt-loleta-burglary-progress-warni/)

two months later, this?

We are being served all right…on a platter.

Gotta love the combo of inefficient/ineffective cops and prop 47! We should be trying to pass a bill that would allow EVERY thug that gets popped to be sent to another state to serve his/her prison time. They’re a lot of states that have vacancies, and that get paid per prisoner, that would probably be overjoyed to take, ummm, say about 5,000 convicts into their fold. Relieve the CA system, and house these non-street-worthy freaks at the same time.

I dont blame the cops at all..they have put this guy in jail multiple times but they keep letting him out. The cops have been very efficient when the Da’s office and courts have not…it certainly does not help that the F-ed up voters in Ca passed peop 47…Dumb asses…

When you start recognizing felons by name, things have gone too far. This guy is a violent multi-offender. How is he even on the loose. Following isn’t a comprehensive list.

Unbelievable this guy was on the streets…seems to me home invasion is one of the deadliest and potentially most violent of crimes. This guy needs some serious time, although I wish our penal system was more effective at rehabbing these guys…too many come out more criminalized than when they started. Argh.

This woman will never get over this trauma, this isn’t just a simple problem now solved…and he was recently arrested for similar behavior…someone needs to be fired for this guy being loose.
Again.

Are we going to hear from the usual suspects this is all the grower’s fault, or Gallegos’?….we’re gonna need some new patsies up here…

Wow Kym I see you have his mug shot already. Mike will not be happy this guy was cut loose so soon after his last arrest, and has now accosted his mom. The system is broke, guys like this should not be out accosting our elderly. Certainly makes me wonder where our society is headed.

Now would be a great time for the new D.A. To flex her power and use this fine citezen as an example, and give him a habitual offender case and send him off, he wants to be locked up cause life on the streets is just to hard for him.

If anyone deserves it it’s him, the first thing I thought when I clicked on the page was
“Gee, that guy sure looks familiar.”

As much as I question the effectiveness of police, they brought this guy in several times earlier. It’s now the DA’s responsibility to put him away instead of just releasng him to commit more serious crime.
