Puma Family Stalks Near Redway

Not one, not two, but three mountain lions!! (What is the plural noun? A privilege of pumas? A massacre of mountain lions? A clutch of cougars? Anyone know?)

A game camera captured this eerie sight on the 19th of March near Redway. This isn’t the only glimpse into our wild woods. Otters, bears and pumas appear on local tracker Kim Cabrera’s YouTube channel. Follow her there to see her next recording of the wild world behind the Redwood Curtain.

If it was me deciding it, I would say a “petrify of puma!”

Because they are solitary animals, there is no term to describe a group of mountain lions except “family.”

Looks like a mother and twins. Bring your dogs in they are no match for this mother. Hopefully they keep moving. How far apart are the two game cameras?

Yes…..they’re awesome, truly. Been trying to catch another family of them with a camera over by Heartwood college for several years now ….Bobcats they’re not with those long fulsome tails……

I love them! Whenever I’m near them I coo at them, like I’m about to hug them. They look at me like I’m nuts, and then regally saunter off. I miss my cabin way out in the trees. Mountain lions and black bears and bobcats and herons and wood ducks and FROGS! Sex-crazed frogs! My nearest neighbor was a mile off, and these gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous critters kept me great company.

Truly, if you don’t act like prey, don’t get scared and squirrelly, mountain lions are TOTALLY mellow.
