101 Closed at Crescent City as Law Enforcement Searches for Suspect
According to the Daily Triplicate, Hwy 101 is currently closed after a high speed pursuit ended with a crash. As of 6:20 p.m., one person was captured but one individual is still armed and at large. The Triplicate posted,
They were speeding in excess of 100 mph all the way up 101, passing cars on the right side — just very unsafe driving,” Steven said. “Then the car crashed at 101 and Wilson Lane there at Smith River and there are two subjects in the brush on the east side of the highway. It’s kind of an upward-sloping hill.
…they got one of them at gunpoint and put them in custody,” Steven said. “There’s still one armed person outstanding, and they may have shot at the deputies — that’s part of what we’re trying to sort out….

Wow, thanks Kym. I was wondering what all the commotion was. Hovering helicopter and all. I guess I want to batten down my hatches if there’s still one at large. Yipes!

I guess it’s some consolation it’s supposed to be a local kid… probably making for a friend’s house or barn instead of getting in deeper with strangers… but… yeesh. That one was too close.
