Fire on 101 Near Hooker Creek Exit

UPDATE 11:19 p.m.: According to Hank Toborg, Fire Chief of Phillipsville, The fire is under control. “Phillipsville was there. Miranda was there and Cal Fire,” said Toborg. 

UPDATE 9:52 p.m.: According to the CHP site, “Per fire there is an old rotten redwood w/ fire damage that may come down sometime tonight and may come down into sb 101, notify dot they may need long term 1184.”

UPDATE 8:46 p.m.: One lane of Hwy 101 closed per CHP.

Original post: According to scanner traffic, fire crews are at the scene of what appears to be a two acre vegetation fire on the west side of Hwy 101 one mile north of the Hooker Creek exit [near the south entrance to the Avenue of the Giants.] 

“It is heading uphill. Keep all units coming,” said one responder.
