APD: Arcata Man Arrested With Body Armor, Bullet Resistant Mask, and Stolen Firearm

Arcata Police Department Press Release:

On 2/12/2014 at about 9:36 pm, an officer from the Arcata Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of 2575 Alliance Rd. 

During a probation search of the vehicle, numerous items of paraphernalia for the ingestion of controlled substances were located.  Officers further searched the vehicle for additional contraband and two loaded handguns were located in the bed of the pickup truck.  One handgun, a .357 Smith & Wesson revolver, was reported stolen to the Eureka Police Department on 5/10/2013. The registered owner of the other handgun, a .40 caliber Taurus semi automatic pistol, was unable to be immediately located. 

Also located in the vehicle was bullet resistance Kevlar body armor and a bullet resistant mask.

The driver of the vehicle, Arcata Resident Ry Taylor Landen (age 22) was taken into custody at the scene for PC 496(a) – Possession of stolen property.

Landen was arrested last March for receiving stolen property.
