Rescue Team Holds BBQ to Raise Money for New Truck

Once again, the VFD crews are working to help the community. Southern Humboldt Technical Rescue is BBQing on the Garberville Town Square. The crew members are cooking up local oysters and burgers as well as offering a selection of microbrews or glass of local wine to go with your food.  At 5:30 P.M., they are bringing in Fries Nester Ruland and Fiddle & Pine to play music.

According to the mother of one local VFD member, the crew has raffle tickets for sale.  She says, “If you haven’t bought a raffle ticket yet, one look at the list of thousands of dollars in prizes will be sure to convince you. We’re trying to raise enough cash to buy a Light Rescue truck that will fit our ropes and hardware, and tow our dedicated Swift-Water Rescue trailer.

“The grills are hot and it’s a beautiful day,” says Doug Bryan, Public Information Team member of the Southern Humboldt Fire Chiefs Association who provided the above photo.
