Covelo Traffic Stop Ends in Arrest for Controlled Substance

Mendocino Co. Sheriff Press Release:

On 06-21-13 at approximately 0900 hours, Deputies from the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with an expired registration in the 76000 block of Highway 162 in Covelo, California.

A records check through Sheriff’s Office Dispatch confirmed the driver, Bridgett Frank, was driving on a suspended license.

Frank’s passenger, Chayni Frazier, exhibited symptoms of being under the influence of a stimulant type of controlled substance.

During the stop Frazier turned away from the Deputies appearing to hide an item in the front of her pants.

Upon questioning Frazier admitted that she had hidden a plastic container of drugs in her pants.  Frazier retrieved the item and handed it to the Deputies.

A presumptive test confirmed the substance to be methamphetamine. It was later weighed and found to total 4.4 grams net weight.

Franks was cited for driving on a suspended license and release at the scene.

Frazier was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, transportation of a controlled substance and being under the influence of a controlled substance. Frazier was booked into the Mendocino County Jail to be held in lieu of $35,000.00 bail.
