Fatal Accident in Spyrock Area

UPDATE 9/26: According to a CHP spokesperson, an accident occurred around 4:45 A.M on September 21st.  Driver Robert Eppich was carrying three passengers in a 2006 white Dodge pickup on Dunham Rd. in the mountainous Iron Peak subdivision.  Eppich went off the driveway.  The pickup overturned several times before coming to a stop.  All the occupants were ejected.  No one was wearing seatbelts. The driver and two passengers received major injuries. There was one fatality but no names are being released at this time. Alcohol appears to be a factor. 

Willits News says:

Passenger David Ernest Dambra, 48, from San Francisco sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Passengers Jamie D. Travers, 37, of Ukiah, and Robert J. McHenry, 48, of Laytonville

CHP dispatch is reporting a fatal accident in the Spyrock area between Laytonville and Leggett in northern Mendocino. The accident occurred approximately three miles east of Hwy 101 and was reported about 5:00 A.M. today. As of 11 A.M., officers were still in the area attempting to recover the vehicle.

Please be careful on the roads. Since the rain, there has been a large increase in accidents.
