Accident on Briceland Rd. This Morning Sent Occupants to the Hospital

UPDATE 9/3 P.M.: According to the CHP, Mikki Murzi age 23 of Santa Cruz was driving a 2006 Dodge 2500 Ram

…at an unknown speed northbound on Briceland Thorn Road, south of Thorn Junction.

As the vehicle entered a right curve in the road, it crossed over the southbound lane, then collided with a tree located west of the roadway. 

Occupants of the second vehicle [Kayla Fernandez, William Haug, Carly Lehman, and Matthew Anderson, all of the Southern Humboldt area] suffered minor to severe injuries as a result of the collision. All parties were transported to Jerold Phelps Community Hospital. Collision remains under investigation, and the possibility of driving under the influence is being investigated as well.

UPDATE 5:25 P.M.: According to Doug Bryan of the Southern Humboldt Fire Chief’s Association public information team, “There were four patients in the crash this morning. Two were critical. Two were walking wounded.”  He noted that Briceland Fire, Whitethorn Fire, and Cal Fire all responded to help.

According to CHP dispatch, an accident on Briceland Rd. which was called in about 4:53 A.M resulted in critical injuries. There was a male with head trauma as well as an injured female. A 3/4 ton Dodge Diesel was towed from the scene and traffic was restricted to one lane for a time.
