Traffic Stop Snags Heroin and Methamphetamines

On June 29th 2013, at about 3:16 am, an Arcata Police Department officer conducted a traffic stop for an observed equipment violation at the Best Western Motel (4827 Valley West Blvd).

Upon contacting the driver, later identified as Sara Elizabeth Vickland, age 33 of Arcata, a search was conducted on the vehicle and it’s occupants, which included a male subject on active CDC parole and a second male subject who is currently on Post Release Community Service (PRCS)

The search of Vickland’s vehicle revealed nearly two ounces of suspected heroin, about five grams of methamphetamines, along with items indicative of narcotics sales. 

Vickland was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where she was booked on the following charges:

·         11351 H&S, possession for sales

·         11352 H&S, transportation of a controlled substance

·         11377 H&S, possession of a controlled substance.
