Garberville Officer Honored

CHP Press Release:

The 15th Annual MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) California Statewide Law Enforcement& Community Recognition Event recognizes and honors law enforcement officers throughout California for their efforts toward stopping the crime of driving under the influence (DUI) and the prevention of underage drinking.  This year’s event will be held at 6:00 PM on Saturday, June 1, 2013, at the Hyatt Regency in Sacramento.  There will be about 600 people in attendance, mostly officers and their families.

As you may be aware, many MADD Affiliates and Chapters provide recognition to law enforcement agencies serving their local areas.  The MADD California Hero Award is the most prestigious honor awarded to a select group of officers at this formal statewide event.  This year, nine law enforcement officers from across the State of California were selected to receive the award.

CHP Garberville Area, Officer Darron Drefke, is the only CHP Officer selected from the north state to receive this award.  Since his assignment to the Garberville Area in 2010, Officer Drefke has personally apprehended over 100 DUI drivers.  As a DRE (Drug Recognition Expert) and FTO(Field Training Officer) Officer Drefke has assisted in the evaluation and arrest of hundreds more impaired drivers.  On June 1st, Officer Drefke will be honored for his important and lifesaving work, stopping impaired driving and preventing underage drinking.
