Sirens are for Tsunami Warning Test

Humboldt Co. Sheriff’s Press Release:

 On Wednesday 03-27-2013, the annual Tsunami Warning Communications Test will be conducted in Del Norte, Humboldt, and Mendocino Counties.  At approximately 1100, the Emergency Alert System (most radio and television stations) will broadcast an alert message as will NOAA Weather Radio, tsunami sirens will be activated in some communities, and some coastal areas will witness an airplane testing a public address system.  Many government entities and private organizations are using the Tsunami Warning Communications Test occasion as an opportunity to test internal notification systems and procedures. The below flyer provides details for Wednesday’s Tsunami Warning Communications Test actions.
