Sohum residents are looking in the sky and Facebooking as unusual aircraft circles the area. KMUD is reporting this as a training exercise. According to them, this is a Wildland Fire Fighting Scenario.  There are 2 air attack planes, 1 air tanker and 1 helicopter.  One resident wrote earlier, “…the smaller bombers just keep circling. That huge one, along with the helicopter, are dropping water on a field within the con camp.” 

The exercise was scheduled to be completed at 2:30 but at least one aircraft was spotted above Garberville after that.
