Traffic Collision on Old Arcata Road–Pole Down

UPDATE 9:08 A.M.: PG&E still hasn’t gotten back to me.  However their outage map has been updated to say that there is a crew on site and that power will now be restored by 11:30 A.M.

UPDATE 7:30 A.M.: PG&E’s outage map is saying that there is a crew on site and that power should be restored by 10 A.M. I have again called PG&E and they have promised to get back to me with more information.  (Hopefully, with better results than last night.)

UPDATE 11:16 P.M.: The CHP site is saying, “APPRX 2 HR ETA TO REOPEN RDWY” (Approximately 2 hour estimated time to reopen the roadway.)

————————

The CHP is reporting an accident which occurred around 9:45 P.M. A pole was knocked down and traffic is stopped on Old Arcata Rd. just south of the Bayside Cutoff. Details are sketchy but it looks as if a dozen power lines are down.  PG&E reports that there are at least 500 customers without power, a lineman is on the way, and the estimated time of repair is 12:30 A.M. I have a request for more information into PG&E.

(CHP update here.)
