Calfire Helicopter Down in Northern Mendocino

 

UPDATE 2:26 P.M.:A spokesperson for Calfire, Julie Cooley, explained that one of the local Calfire helicopters, #101, which is stationed at Howard Forest Compound made an emergency landing.  Ukiah Ambulance, Little Lake Fire, and Calfire responded as a precautionary measure but there were no injuries.  What caused the emergency landing is unknown at this time.

There has been reports of a fire being squelched in the Spyrock area.  Now CHP is reporting that there is a helicopter crash “on a dirt road on state property.”  KMUD’s Terri Klemetson is reporting, “just south of the Howard Forest Helipad. Calfire engine and battalion en route to scene.”
