Old Buck, New Horns

 

Just before I closed in, this older buck reared up and head butted a younger looking fellow.  Then he heard me and gave some sort of warning that I couldn’t hear. The rest melted away, some without even turning to look. He held his ground, able to bolt when necessary but I got the impression he stood rear guard, protecting the rest.
