Fatal Traffic Accident on Shelter Cove Road

UPDATE:The man who died has been identified as 54 year old Mark Clyde Gardner of Shelter Cove.

According to a CHP press release, today at around 12:20 P.M., a white male adult and solo occupant was driving his 1996 Dodge Ram eastbound on Shelter Cove road, east of Chemise Mountain Road. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle ran off the south roadway edge and drove up an embankment while negotiating a curve in the roadway. Following the collision, the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency personnel. Emergency personnel from Shelter Cove Fire Department and Briceland Fire Department, along with Officers from the Garberville Area CHP office responded to the scene. DUI does not appear to be a factor in this collision.
