<strike>County</strike> Construction Worker Hit By Vehicle

UPDATE 7:30: According to the Times Standard, Eugene Palmer age 17, whose fogged windows obscured his vision, ran over construction cones and hit the back of a grinder driven by Kenneth Newell age 68.  Newell was transported to St. Joe’s with major injuries.

UPDATE: From Public Works is that the injured man is a construction worker not a county employee.  May that person be safe.

A county worker was reported hit by a vehicle at 2402 Myrtle Ave in Eureka. The situation is serious with CPR being administered.  Stay out of the area if you can.

My husband and father work/worked for Caltrans. My heart is with the crews and their families.
