Support Local Art, Wine and Sanctuary Forest at Whitethorn Party

     Whitethorn Winery and First Fig Gallery will host their 7th Annual Thanksgiving Holiday Wine Tasting and Gallery Open House on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 25-26 from 1-5 p.m. at 545 Shelter Cove Road in Whitethorn, 14 miles west of Redway.

     Textile artist Lela McKee opened First Fig Gallery in 2005 to realize her dream of show-casing her own work along with that of other local artists.  This year the gallery open housewill feature the work of Joe Whitney and Greg  Lattanza with photographs from their travels in Italy and closer to home, photos of the natural world.  Lela Mckee offers beautiful apronsand other textile art, and the jewelry of local artist Altadena de la Cruz will also be shown and on sale.

     Tasha McKee of Whitethorn Winery will be joined for the second time by Allan Estrada, Elk Prairie Vineyard winemaker, and will be wearing both her winemaker and Sanctuary Forest Director hats this year, presenting a water and wine extravaganza.  For a nominal cover charge of $5 per person, guests will receive a commemorative Sanctuary Forest wine glass, taste Whitethorn Winery’s current releases and Elk Prairie Vineyard’s Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Franc.  Local musicians will perform as well. The proceeds from wine magnums auctioned live, sale of gourmet cheese plates and chocolate truffles, and 20 percent of wine sales will go to support Sanctuary Forest’s work on behalf of coho recovery.
