Yeah, but in those days weed was $25 an oz. Looks can be deceiving. Those long season Sativa strains were always kind of stringy, but had that energizing Sativa high. Of course it would be hard to go back to the harsh flavor of brown weed that was compressed into a brick sometimes a year or two before it found its way into a joint.

I have tried nearly all of these. My favorite… I had me some Kona Blue when I got married in 1979. I remember the weed more than I do the ceremony! LOL that was some fine, very high and colorful buzzin’.

VietNamese and Tai Sticks soaked in Heroine wash. Black sticky opium perfumed and oh so mellow. Life was good, wasn’t it? China White heroine versus Mexican Black Tar. Times they are a changing 🙂

Growin up in Jersey all we usually had access to was Mexican strains. The seeds, the stems, the weird shit that would pop out of the bricks. I still have some albums with dust and resin from this harsh stuff sticking to them. Hillside Hack weed we would call the stuff, can’t say the memory was better than than the reality

Thanks for the memories, Kym. It used to look so good back then… yet pales in comparison to today, doesn’t it? 1977-2011: 33 years of progress.
We’ve come a long ways– due in large part to Humbocino growers’ efforts improving strains and techniques constatnly over the years. What a difference a photo flashback makes.

Now we know the “gold” color in the pot came from over exposure to sunlight while drying.

Then again some of those colors could have been due to mold during curing.
