The Elections are Coming–Do You Know Who You're Voting For?

Election 2012 is coming.  With the redistricting, Humboldt and Mendocino no longer will have Mike Thompson on their ballot.  Instead, the candidates for the position of our congressperson are in an open primary which means that the top two vote getters in June, have a runoff for the seat. (So you can vote your heart in June and then vote for the least offensive later on.)

Assm. Jared Huffman, candidate for Congress from the Second Congressional District-that’s us–will be on KHUM today at 10:30.  Listen up (I’m planning to.) He’s the favorite so he has a good chance of being someone who is going to influence your future and the future of the North Coast.  Might be a good idea to spend some time figuring out if you want to vote for him. Host Mike Dronkers will be allowing phone calls, too.  So you can call and ask about your concerns (707) 786-KHUM  (786-5486 for those of us who prefer the numbers.)

Photo snagged from LoCo who probably snagged it from somewhere else

(Where the heck was this taken? The photographer did a great job of positioning Huffman to look destined for Congressman.)

I snagged it from the Mother Jones blog, which probably snagged it from somewhere else.

Could the photo have been taken inside that Frank Lloyd Wright-designed County building in San Rafael? I’ve never been inside there, but that’s my uninformed guess.

That sounds plausible. Very dramatic lines in the photo.

You deleted my reply to Mr. Mike Dronkes on your blog, Hank. It was intelligent and addressed this very issue. I don’t know who to vote for, because Humboldt’s media never really just spells out who stands for what, other than the same old usual drone of what to do with some 40 acre parcel on the bay. Even then no real answers.

Rather than read about where you LCC guys go for lunch, and which local beer gives you the least hangover, I’d like to see a simple list of who stands for what…INCLUDING THE PROTESTS HAPPENING ALL OVER THE COUNTRY RIGHT NOW IN WHICH PEACEFUL PEOPLE OF ALL AGES ARE BEING BEATEN BY THEIR OWN POLICE FOR NOTHING. Once again, LCC’s pseudo-nonpartisanship comes across as passive laziness. You don’t demonstrate that you really care. You repeatedly demonstrate that you’ve got a cake job, more power to you all, but maybe wake up to this exact moment in history and realize you’re not really doing anything but yawning at the single biggest protest the nation has seen in 100 years, happening right here in Humboldt too..

Please inform your READERS, Hank, in a way easy enough for kids to understand, where the candidates stand on this rather important thing going on outside.

That’s it. Vote for someone who helped run this state into the ground so he can help run the rest of the country into the ground with us!

Fred—You must have misunderstood. I’m not voting for him (or at least I don’t know whether I’m voting for him yet.) I’m going to listen to him first and then I will listen to the other candidates and , of course, I will do some reading and then I will make up my mind.

I have not heard much difference between any of the candidates other than Courtney who has some bizarre ideas… The photo is amusing but leaves a terrible impression. Probably why Mother Jones used it.

I don’t believe in partaking in the system because I feel that Lucifer owns all the kingdoms of the planet and those systems serve the devil. This goes back to when Jesus was tempted and offered all those kingdoms if he would bow to Lucifer and worship him.
What I think would be nice for those who partake in Lucifer’s Kingdom Of Government it would be good for them to have on every ballot- None Of The Above. This would help settle the Douche or Turd Sandwich debate and allow people to opt out of nonsense.
Another thing that might make people happy would be to allow these positions be be shut down by “voters”. For instance, maybe the majority of people who live on the North Coast don’t want a CONgress person and would like to see the position ended. Shouldn’t they have their voice heard? Allowing “voters” to remove government positions and control from their local area would be a great step forward in Liberty.
What if the “People” don’t want a giant douche or a turd sandwich for office?

You don’t need NOTA on the ballot to vote that way. Just don’t vote if you’re not happy with any of the candidates. I’ve done it before when there wasn’t a Libertarian Party candidate to vote for, assuming I didn’t like any of the other choices.

I see a good chance of not voting in the congressional race this next time. If we end up with two Democrats in the General Election to chose from, I can almost guarantee you I won’t.

Some feel like they have to vote. I’ll admit it’s nice having someone to vote for but, if there’s no decent choices, I actually feel pretty good about not voting.

Fred- if you don’t cast your “vote” and fill out the form in a complete manner, it may be tossed in the trash. It may be tossed in the trash anyway, but that’s another thread for this blog….
Putting NOTA on every ballot stops the “left right paradigm” which has evolved into not left or right, but jumping up & down while standing in place. The Banker Occupied Fallen Nation we exist under the federal reserve and queen of england will gladly give the muppets TWO choices, maybe a third. Complete nullification by ballot would be a great choice for people fed up with the choices fed to them from Madison Ave regarding the emotions they should feel towards the current political system. What would they have to fear? being kicked out of a “job”?
Why must I make a choice between a giant douche and a turd sandwich? What if I don’t want either? How does filling out a “ballot” help me?

When Lucifer was tempting Jesus through the offering of all the kingdoms of the world, he must have been prepared to pay with something he owned.
