Murder in Hoopa–Search Results in Arrest of a Woman
Humboldt Co. Sheriff’s Press Release:
On 08-13-2011 at about 0344 hours Hoopa Valley Tribal Police Officers and Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a stabbing that had just occurred at a residence on Cherry Flat Road, Hoopa. Upon arrival in the area, Deputies located an adult male, age 36, with what appeared to be a puncture wound to the chest. The adult male was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
Witnesses at the scene identified the suspect in this case as Virginia June Doolittle, Female, age 39. At about 0658 hours Doolittle was located by Hoopa Valley Tribal Police Officers at a residence on Pine Creek Road, Hoopa, and taken into custody. Doolittle was booked at the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on a charge of 187(a) PC – Murder. Bail was set at one million dollars.
The investigation into this incident continues and search warrants are expected to be served later today. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending next of kin notification.

On 08-13-2011, approximately 3:45 a.m. Hoopa Valley Tribal Police Officers responded to a stabbing that occurred at a residence on Cherry Flat Road, Hoopa. When they arrived they found a 35-year-old male with a puncture wound to his chest. The deceased male was pronounced dead at the scene. The deceased male has been identified as Franklin Doolittle of Hoopa.
Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies and detectives responded to the scene and determined that 39-year-old Virginia Doolittle, stabbed Franklin, her brother, once in the chest with a knife during an argument causing the fatal injury.
Hoopa Valley Tribal Police located Virginia Doolittle at a residence on Pine Creek Road, Hoopa at 7:00 a.m. on 08-13-2011. She was arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on one count of murder. Her bail is set at one million dollars.
The case has been sent to the Humboldt County District Attorneys Office for prosecution. The Humboldt County Coroners Office has scheduled an autopsy for later this week.
