The Bilbo Burgers are Back—Chimney Tree Open

Are you like this forlorn visitor to Hobbiton/Chimney Tree and feel deprived because you can’t see the little hobbit sculptures? Or are you a foodie and remember the delicious milkshakes and crispy fries? The homemade pies? Chicken nuggets- Potato Salad- Coleslaw?
Well, I just got word that the Chimney Tree restaurant opened yesterday. I’m looking forward to those milkshakes! It will be open every day but Tues. from 11:30 to 7. The menu sticks close to the traditional menu–the same tasty meat, many of the same dishes including the famed Bilbo burger.
SoHum resident, Maria Gale, went there and raved about the food–especially the milkshakes. “I had two yesterday, I had a banana-vanilla milkshake then I had to go back in and get another. The milkshakes are goooooood!”
Sadly, the sculptures and the Hobbit Hike aren’t up. Maybe next year?

Yesterday morning, at Cafe Bella in Redway, I met the lovely pastry chef for the Chimney Tree restaurant and she was on way to her first day of work (opening day!). She told me she LOVES making pies!
Sandra Bonham just came back from here and said, ” …we went to the Chimney Tree today and it was WONDERFUL! .. for all your friends who are hungry send them there….. I had the Bacon Cheese burger, with sweet potato fries!! … I went with family & saw alot of locals there. “
