Two POPped for Growing

Andrew Micheal Harmon (21 of Eureka) and Paul Lojan Harig (20 of Eureka)

The Problem Oriented Police (POP) task force out of Eureka arrested Andrew Micheal Harmon and Paul Lojan Harig on suspicion of marijuana cultivation. For the full details see KMUD’s news site. They were acting in response to neighborhood complaints. Seized were

  • 70 marijuana plants
  • Approximately 1 ounce of concentrated cannabis (kief) plus hash oil
  • Approximately 7 pounds of processed marijuana
  • 6 pounds of drying marijuana plants (13 plants)

Also seized was a duffel bag containing 4 and 3/4 pounds of processed pot.

In other news, The Humboldt Herald announced that Eureka Police Chief Garr Nielsen had been fired.  Nielsen is widely believed responsible for the turnaround in public perceptions towards the previously embattled Eureka Police Dept.  and has been credited for POP as recently as this last week by Councilwoman Linda Atkins.

Are those mug shots or Myspace profiles? You’ve gotta love the POP if you live in Eureka.
