Benbow State Park May Be Safe!

The Feds may provide a stay of execution for Benbow State Park and other beloved North Coast recreation areas. According to an article in the Press Democrat(which I highly recommend,)  Benbow State Park which had been slated to close as part of a cost cutting measure by California may be saved from the chopping block.  The Feds who have provided funds to operate it and 15 other of the California Parks on the list to be closed are claiming that the state government would be in a breach of contract if they close parks that the federal government has given support to  from the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund.

Other parks on the North Coast which might be affected include Manchester State Beach, Russian Gulch State Park and Standish-Hickey State Recreation Are.
