Kristine's Page–Photos and Words to Remember Her By (Victim of Double Murder in Kettenpom)

Sky and Kristine–summer of 2010 along the Rogue River.

photo added by Rex Everything

A friend of Kristine Constantino sent me these.  If you have offered comments elsewhere on the blog please copy them and post them below so that family and friends can more easily find them.

Sometimes photos and stories are the best gift that can be offered when someone has lost a loved one.  If the photos and stories are ones that they don’t already have, for some they are like windows into another time.  The more windows, the more light comes into the darkness of the loss.

UPDATE: A friend of Kristine sent me these memories.

Kristine was an exceptionally beautiful human being in so many ways. She was a rational idealist with an enormous heart. She lived as she spoke, did what she said she would do, and treated everybody and everything with respect and kindness.

Kristine was walking in front of Calico’s as a homeless man was being put into a police car. The policeman asked Kristine, “Do you have a dog?”
She replied, “Why, no.”
The cop held out the leash of the arrestee’s dog and Kristine took it. “Now you do,” he said.

And that’s the story of how Kristine got her dog. (Was his name Lucky?)

Then she added–

The pictures look good! The ones [x] sent you were a little um, mellow. There’s some spunk showing now. And Kristine had spunk!

UPDATE2: More friends and family sent photos which I have added above.  And here is another memory of Kristine.

Kristine in my eyes: sensitive, loving, caring, great listener, nature lover, and free spirit.

She was caring for a friend who had terminal cancer illness who she met only for a month. Her friend did not have any relatives that would take care of her. Kristine spent months to bath, feed, take her to see doctors and be there for her without any kinds of compensation. Before Kristine friend’s passed away, she said ” You are truly an angel and amazing human being, you will be a great mom and I am sure your mom would be so proud of you.”
UPDATE3: A friend of Sky’s sent the picture of the two of them and I thought Kristine’s family and friends might enjoy it, too.  There is a memorial for him scheduled for the 27th at the Summit Town Grange at 2pm.

Kym, I am Allyson Mitchell’s husband Steve. We have been good friends of the Gund family since they moved here in the early eighties. I work as a tug-boat captian and just returned home last night. Allyson said there were many blogs on your website relative to the Gunds. How do I find them? I am really impressed with your website. How do you have time to post so much valuble information? Much respect! [I took out your phone number before I put let the comment post, I’ll put up some links to the Kettenpom story in about a 1/2 hour depending on getting my family taken care of. Kym]

Here is the link to the post that I just put up that provides the links. Blogs take some time to figure out because the earliest post is the farthest back contrary to how magazines work in print.

This is so sad I don’t know why someone would do this to anyone.
There is so much sad news in the world. It’s time for everyone to
Look over there shoulder and say love is all we need in time’s like this.
No one will really know what he was thinking. Love to the family!

I met Kristine when I was 10 years old. From the moment I saw her I knew she had to be my friend. Although we had our ups and downs Kristine was like a sister to me and one of my very best friends. Every moment with Krisitne was a memory. She was fearless yet fragile. She was such a beauty inside and and out, a true angel on Earth. She loved animals, people and nature. This is such a senseless tragedy. My heart is aching a pain that goes unmatched. She will be missed tremendously and her death has left a gaping hole in all who loved her. God bless you Kristine, you are in a better place and among good company. Rest in Peace. I love you.

Our family is grieving terribly from this unimaginable loss. Kris was a beautiful, kind soul who was gentle and sweet to anyone who crossed her path. Her eyes would light up the room. Pray for her family- her Mom, 2 brothers and very close Sister-in-law who already miss her greatly- along with many cousins, aunts, uncles and friends for life. We’ll see you on the other side Kris. RIP </3

This is such a tragedy I still cannot believe it Kristine and my brother grew up together Kristine’s family went to the same church as my family. I have known Kristine’s family for a very long time. I spent many weekends babysitting for Kristine while her mom and dad ran the pizzeria. Kristine was best friends with my cousin kelly growing up and while they were 3 years younger than me, I spent alot of time with them growing up. Kristine was such a great girl — She always had a beautiful smile on her face. She was sweet and funny and just loved life. She had a fire cracker personality and loved to have fun. I remember a specific half time game at a specific high school homecoming football game where Kristine left a huge impression on the entire stadium full of fans lol Kristine was a free spirt with an old soul. I still can’t believe this has happened to such a beautiful person and her family. My heart also goes out to the family of Kris’s boyfriend Sky. They were both so youngand this whole situation has been devestating to many people’s lives across the country from California and Oregon to NY (where Kristine was from). She and sky are in a better place now together and hopefully we will all see each other again someday on the other side. Kristine you will be greatly missed. RIP lovely girl.

Kris was a real good person. She will be in a safe and better place now. It is a horrible situation but it is time to let the hate go and begin the process of healing.

To her family: Be strong and support each other. There is a lot of living left to do so, help each other through this. Remember, she will be back with her Dad and uncle Vinny in a beautiful place. They are smiling down on you all right now. It is amazing what family can do.

Love you guys. I am far away but I am always here for you,
Cousin Steve

I first met Kristine (in this lifetime) in April of 2007 at Mount Madonna Center in Watsonville, CA. Kristine was my next door neighbor when I arrived, and during the months that we were there, we had a few conversations, mostly around spiritual topics, ranging from astrology and numerology to the DVD series entitled, The Secret.

During the winter of 2007-2008, Kristine asked me to look after her van, lovingly named by her the Wonder Wagon, or WW for short, as she went back to New York by train to visit with family and friends for a couple of months.

I will share with everyone one email I received from her during that time, which I remember she sent me just a few hours after I had dropped her off at the train station. Her language and style in this email is so very Kristine, and those of us who had the opportunity to spend even just a short amount of time with her, will understand and agree. The comments below in brackets […] are mine to help clarify what she way saying.

“Jim Williams, So I cant seem to find my [cell] phone which unfortunately (in more ways than one) is pretty important. I am thinking that I left it in the WW either in the little cubby next to the gear shift thingy, in the basket onthe dash or more likely than not, it fell out of my bag in the back and is on my bed or in the baskets of mess when u first openthe door. If it did fall out in the back, my gosh…….. At this point I have no way to get in contact with my friend whom im meeting. I have no way to get ahold of you or pretty much anyone. Could you please (im giving the computer puppy eyes) check my van for me. I will try and contact you through MMC [Mount Madonna Center] in a bit, but otherwise, i am not leaving the coffee shop i am in (my shit [her backpack] weighs about 80 pounds) so email me back. I was just saying the other day how it would totally suck if i lost my phone….The Secret [i.e., the Law of Attraction] works! Thank you soo much jim williams [she was one of two people at MMC who never called me Jim, but always Jim Williams], you are totally getting good karma points gfor this. ~kristine”

I laugh every time I read this email, especially the last sentence. The last sentence shows her wonderful sarcasm–not a wounding, hurtful, biting sarcasm–but a non-threatening laughing rejoinder, just the same. What she was saying to me here was that maybe a week or two previous to this email, we were watching The Secret DVD in the community recreation room with some other community members. There was a side to Kristine that loved things like astrology, numerology, The Secret, etc., and she was trying to understand with her whole being the significance of that program, and the message she felt it was trying to convey to her. So what is going through her mind when she wrote that to me was something like, “Great. Just the other day I was saying it would totally suck if I lost my cell phone on this trip, and sure enough, I attracted that very situation…thanks a lot, jim williams, for explaining the law of attraction so clearly to me so that i could then go out and create this very situation.”

I should also mention that she stuffed her small van full of all her possessions that she had with her at MMC during the time that she was away on her trip. So this is why she used the words that she used in the email when asking me to look for her cell phone, because it was literally like looking for a needle in a haystack with the way that she had packed that van with all of her belongings! I remember spending more than an hour, several different times, looking for that thing, and it turned out that she had left it behind at the train station when I dropped her off, and someone picked it up and I believe phoned Brazil several times with it and later she found out she had a tremendous phone bill, which she eventually did not have to pay! Things like this often seemed to happen to Kristine in the short time that I knew her! But she had a wonderful way of defusing these types of situations with her zany genuine laugh, eventual positive outlook, and balanced way of thinking about things…

Thank you, Kristine, for your wonderful friendship…
