Kim, thanks for putting these up.

Been appreciating and sharing the last few posts you’ve been putting up regarding the project. Surprisingly, rational and respectful dialogue can actually help break down barriers and facilitate communication.

Who would’ve thought? 😀

Josh, nice post. I’m reminded from your words something I (try to) keep close: “People won’t always remember what you say to them, but they’ll ALWAYS remember how you made them feel.”

Skippy, you are rapidly becoming my favorite poster (and beating Ernie is pretty hard.) Thanks for all the kind and sensible words you spread where ever you post.

Thank you, Kym. I’m humbled. You and Ernie share, practice, and show a very special quality that ‘s seldom seen, yet should be kept close and dear for us all because of its rarity : grace.

Kym, “Surprisingly, rational and respectful dialogue can actually help break down barriers and facilitate communication.”

I’d like to know where the “respectful dialogue” is that “can actually help break down barriers and facilitate communication’? I’ve read what you’ve had to say. There are occasions where you certainly are not respectful. Posting these pictures shows me some of the issues these people have with the project. Why aren’t those issues address so that those people can understand that some of their concerns are irrelevant? I’ve already put that question to Phill Frisbie and I’m going to do it again as soon as I’m finished here. These demonstrators have a serious lack of trust. You know why that is?

You don’t “dialogue respectfully” with anyone or gain their trust when the only thing you know how to do is TELL people what is and what is not. Then justify ignoring them because they don’t fall down at your feet and agree with you.

Of course you won’t show us the shameful litter these people left tied to a once-beautiful redwoods– that banner. They insisted that they’d not leave their paint-covered length of 20′ by 50′ cloth and the ropes tied to the trees, would have it down by the end of the day.
They lied, for starters, which means we should no longer listen to them. If you can’t win honestly then you can’t win at all.
Funny how they accuse the media of biased, narrow-view coverage but intentionally don’t tell us about the bad things they all do.
So in the end, the T-S has a photo of Caltrans having to once again clean up after these children. I’m happy they will be charging RGAN for the removal of their litter.
You can’t protect trees while leaving trash tied to them.
They had to climb the trees to put that thing up there, right? Climbing trees tears up the bark that took hundreds of years to grow. It knocks of smaller limbs that might have grown to impressive branches of beauty. And that’s just the up climb. You do it all over again when you climb back down.
So let’s summarize: protestors lied, littered, and damaged the things they claim to be protecting. Explain to me one more time how I’m supposed to support their actions in any way?

Kym, I’ll just use this one example, there are more:
“Capdiamont – February 23rd, 2011 at 17:26
Your reasoning and debate skills have really helped me understand the opposition’s view point.”

This guy and others posting on your blog thinks I’m one of the protestors opposed to the project. You know the truth. Why don’t you set them straight? I’ll tell you why, because their false accusations and lies server your overall objectives and ulterior purposes. You’re no better than the reporters for the New York Times, The Washington Post and others that sat in front of President Obama and let him get away with blatantly lying to the American public and the world. Are you so close-minded that you are incapable of understanding that your lack of actions, is equivalent to peddling misinformation to harden attitudes against others? In fact, from what I’ve seen and read on this blog, I must conclude, by your actions and attitude, you are as much at fault for why there is such a problem people feel they need to resort to protest demonstrations that puts the health and safety of others at risk. You publicly worry about your husband because he’s a Caltrans employee, then you go out and do the very things that put him at risk.

Kym says: Joe, I have never worried about your ability to defend yourself.
Where does this nonsense come from? When you let a lie or misinformation stand without a word, EVERYONE knows you are in agreement. That makes you complicit in the lie. This comment from you is deliberately dishonest and disingenuous. None of this is about me. It is about exposing the root cause for deliberately dividing people. This exchange by you is a classic example of an arrogant, self-centered, self-serving wannabe Elitist dictator’s attitude. Conflating self superiority with this elitist’s attitude to justify dominating others is the root cause of why people are demonstrating and revolting all over the world and in the U.S. People that count don’t need someone like you to agree with them to be legitimate.
