More Snow!
The hill kids are loving it but drivers need to be careful. The Caltrans traffic cam at Confusion Hill Bridge shows snow sticking on the road at 1:15 pm. The Caltrans Road Conditions’ site says the roads are still clear though.

Guys, it looks like winter really came. Late though it is, winter has finally truly arrived.

Hours of lazy fat snowflakes yesterday afternoon still only accumulated about four inches at my elevation because it formed slush quickly, but there is no way anyone on my road is getting out over the pass that is 800 feet higher in elevation than my domecile, much of the road up to the pass is on a northfacing slope and takes forever to melt away. I heard a lot of trees and limbs coming down from the weight of the wet slushy accumulation, and found out that one fine responsible neighbor on the upper road was headed up and out with his chainsaw as the first person through must.
The sun is shining through the glistening rain falling from the treemelt. Doves and small birds are now finding the wealth of seeds emerging from the snowmelt on the porch. Yesterday’s big snowflakes kept covering my attempts to give them some food energy for the storm. It is fine entertainment for the bored, spoiled housecat . He stalk-creeps up to the sliding glass door to watch the outdoor aviary… pretending to act like a cat instead of a furry pillow on whatever chair is closest to the woodstove.
Having lived in Alaska, Vermont, around the Great Lakes, Colorado and in the Sierras… this small storm has been fun to “ride out”…. so sorry for all the weather caused deaths locally… and I DO empathize with those suffering back east from horribly cold winter weather that won’t go away. Countin’ my blessings for our mild climate.
