Down the Rabbit Hole: Another Mexican Weed Smuggling Tunnel Discovered

The San Diego Tunnel Task Force discovered another highly developed underground border crossing Thanksgiving Day near San Diego.  The 1/2 mile tunnel stretched from a Tijuana home to a warehouse on Via De La Amistad in the Otay Mesa area near San Diego. Pictured above are bales of marijuana from the bust.

Earlier this month a combination of US and Mexican authorities seized 24 tons of marijuana on both sides of the border from another pot smuggling tunnel which was only a few blocks from the one yesterday. Both tunnels are sophisticated with rails and ventilation systems. This makes the 76th tunnel found so far this year.

What Humboldt growers want to know is will this dry up the glut on the market which has been holding prices down?

I’m thinking the markets for those tunnel bales and for Triangle turkey bags are pretty separate.

Though I’ve been hearing about nicer-looking Mexican buds in the southern part of the state.

I’d still like to know more about the role national forest grows play in the cartels’ portfolio.

Mathew, at one time I would have thought the same thing but growers here are complaining that when they go to dispensaries to sell, they are hearing that Mexican weed is much cheaper and decent (not as high quality but still smokable). The dispensaries decline Humboldt’s buds in favor of the cheaper Mex stuff.

Take a look at those bricks, they’re worth zero. That’s vending machine schwag. Let the people have it. No dispensary is taking it. But for all we really know (are being told), there’s a kilo of coke or smack or who knows what in each one.

I don’t understand how under the compassionate use act a dispensarie could offer any medicine that wasn’t grown by a patient or a care provider.
How is it possible to sell Mexican under the law?

It isn’t possible. It actually isn’t legal to just sell pot at all to my understanding. But I’ve heard lawyers dispute this.

“What Humboldt growers want to know is will this dry up the glut on the market which has been holding prices down?”

Ridiculous generalization. Not talking about anybody I know. “Cannabiz” growers can choke on their own smoke. They’re not Humboldt, or LA, or dispensary…they’re business.

If it was decriminalized, not only would the Fed save taxpayer dollars but they would also gain a large increase on a previously non-taxable product.

Go figure
