ET does the International Cannabis and Hemp Expo

The Emerald Triangle is being well represented at the International Cannabis and Hemp Expo.    Grow  it in the Sun will be there. (The Humboldt Herald has a piece on them and their goals.)  The Teahouse Collective will be giving away free samples of bud to anyone who signs up as their patient.  Dr. Courtney and Kristen Peskuski will be there speaking and doing a juicing demo. And, I’ve been asked to be a panelist there speaking about the role of media in covering marijuana and why it is important to do so.

Anyone else going?

It’s exciting. What day will you be there?

The most important thing about Tea House being present isn’t giving away samples of bud. We certainly won’t be the only ones giving samples. It’s informing the world of the values of Humboldt outdoor grown and about the importance of sustainable organic growing. It’s reclaiming Humboldt’s history as a leader in developing the best strains and growing world class cannabis. Most importantly, we want to reclaim cannabis from industrialization and pharmaceuticalization and return it to what it has always been–good, safe, effective and natural botanical medicine.

In April, the Chronicle made up a story about growers from Humboldt being at the first Expo–all unidentified–and saying how they feared legalization. It was all made up, lazy reporting based on the over simplified story that came out of the March “What’s After Pot” forum. I’m looking forward to saying with pride that Humboldt has nothing to fear in the new economy. Our small farms, our ecological consciousness, our progressive views–we are more in tune and in keeping with the spirit of 215 and SB 420 than anyone else! And if Prop 19 passes, well, we’re still the best!

If you’re at the Expo, please come by and say hello to us.

NOTE! While most of the Expo is open to the general public, to get into the “215” exhibit where Tea House and other collectives will be you must be a current medical cannabis patient and bring a photo ID and your doctor’s recommendation. Your ID and recommendation will be checked and you can’t get in without them.

I’m planning on going and shooting the Teahouse Collective and Grow It In The Sun booths if I can. Haven’t checked with the organizers yet about filming policy at the Expo. I need to find someone to take care of my place while I’m gone. That could be difficult this time of year.
