Petrolia Fire Update

Buckeye Fire Map

The Buckeye Fire near Petrolia is settling down.  An area resident who sent in yesterday’s photos said they spent the day “huddling around the transceiver radio, listening to the pilots and ground crew banter about strategy and terrain. “

However, the weather has helped tremendously. According to the resident,  “It has been drizzling and raining since late afternoon of yesterday to now.  The heat is gone and everything… is fresh and clean… from the garden to the cars. The dust is gone for now as well,  I can see out of the back window of the [car] for the first time in months.  Rain?!?! What?!? A true blessing….The report I just got from Petrolia is that the fire crews are mostly moving out.  Today the transceiver is quiet.  Seems this thing was quick, hot and then over.  Good for the land and a bummer for the land owner.  Thankfully no one was hurt.”

The last update as of 8 this morning says…
