Senator Feinstein Expected to Announce Opposition to Prop 19

According to the Associated Press, Senator Diane Feinstein is expected to join the campaign against Prop 19.  Attorney General Jerry Brown and Barbara Boxer have also stated their opposition to the measure.  Next week Democrats executive committee are expected to vote on whether or not to endorse the initiative which supports the legalization of up to an ounce of marijuana for recreational use.  With the three top Dems coming out in opposition, it seems unlikely the party will be pro legalization.

Representative Mike Thompson is up for reelection this year.  Please email or write him letting him know what stand you expect him to take on such an important issue for the North Coast.

That is interesting. My question regarding Propostion 19 is if this proposition passes, will this void the Compassionate Use Act of 1996?

No, The Compassionate Use Act will be unchanged so the medical marijuana model will still be in effect. Though in reality, I imagine as the laws are still in flux for medical that there will be some slight adjustments–what those adjustments will be are anyone’s guess though.

Feinstein, Boxer, and Brown aka the 3 Stooges for Big Pharma and demonization of the devil weed.
As for the Dems in California NOT supporting Prop 19; this just shows how clueless they are if they oppose it. Seems to me the party needs a major shakeup. Too many are sucking up to special interests, and not those of the voters who put them in.

I would hope they would see that from self interest alone it would be good for the party to pull in the younger voters–to show them that the Dems are for the issues that matter to them.

Prohibition is ineffective – not to mention harmful to the populace in countless ways. The facts repeatedly bear this out. Thus, to act in a way that is contrary to the public interest AND to ignore the facts is a disappointment, to say the least. I mean, I like Barbara Boxer, but this is pretty bad.
