Press Release: Humboldt Medical Marijuana Advisory Panel presents “Humboldt Cannabis – A Future of Opportunity.” This historical event marks the first county wide conference on cannabis and the role it plays in Humboldt’s economy. There will be a wide variety of speakers including representatives of local, city and state officials, medical collectives and dispensaries, unions, Tax and Regulate Cannabis 2010 Initiative, laboratory testing, sustainability, political action, and the future of marijuana as an economic anchor in Humboldt. The conference will be held Saturday, July 24 at the Bayside Grange from 2 to 6pm and is free. For more information go to www.HumMAP.org.

Meetings (starting this morning in Briceland) on the MLPA. From the Fish and Game website:

Members of the public are invited to join us at the upcoming North Coast Summer Public Open Houses to review and provide feedback on Round 2 draft marine protected area proposals for the MLPA North Coast Study Region.
Attend the open houses to visit informational stations, review and comment on the Round 2 draft MPA proposals, provide input on particular areas of interest, and ask questions of staff and regional stakeholders.
