Legal Pot Opportunities
Legal Pot Opportunities is a workshop enabling our community to come to grips with the rapid changes happening around us in the marijuana industry. It will take place in August in the Garberville-Redway area in 3 separate evening sessions of 3 hours each, spread out over two or three weeks.
The facilitator, Willow Rains, will be using a method developed by the Institute of Cultural Affairs.
According to Rain, the methods have been “designed to deepen and enrich participation in group efforts.” They have been field-tested since the 1970’s where she was a member of the faculty from 1970 to 1974. “These methods are now applied widely in many countries and in a broad diversity of situations from small villages and inner city communities to corporate board rooms and government agencies.”
You may contact Willow Rain peoplesvoices @yahoo.com for more information.

Am I going to have to put up a website with pictures of politically correct outdo’ buds for bloggers to use?
If that isn’t an indo bud, I will eat the paper this blog is printed on.
An’ further, the dang clipper left a bottom stem, AND clipped the mainstem down to far, that lower bud is going to fall off in the bag, poke a hole, let the smell out, get somebody stopped and searched, thrown in the slammer at great expense to taxpayers, which that person will no longer be.
Please get better clipped examples and PC buds for the public Kym, thank you and enjoy your freedom.
I swear it is an outdoor bud that someone had just started breaking off some to roll a joint and I wanted to practice photographing buds. So No harshing on the manicure;>
Hey, though, I need some good photos for my book I’m working on. Anybody want to let me photograph marijuana? I have a lot of the beginning stages but not enough from budding to manicured. Feel free to email me and make arrangements for us to talk freely (she says hopefully!)

Then I ‘pollygize’ ’bout the in of the outdo comment, a cheap and errant statement on my part.
I am eating electrons as we speak.
Great job talking about everything here, Kym!
I happened to be viewing old photos from the Emerald Cup right after I read your comment and remember how I noticed and the judges commented on how poorly manicured many of the entries were. I wonder if some of us have higher standards than the rest of the world.

Good morning after a Happy Interdependence Day:
TG, thanks for bringing up a subject I’m very curious about. Doing the ‘Cannabis Chronicles,’ visiting a bunch of dispensaries and having lots of conversations with folks up and down the industry, one topic of debate I heard is how much trimming is appropriate. I heard from several folks that Humboldters overtrim, that more people are wanting buds a little shaggy, especially crystally leaf to get a little shake to bake with. I know younger folks who don’t mind a bit of ‘lumber’ because they like to admire bigger buds. (And yes, sticks are an issue if you’re storing or transporting in plastic bags.)
Anybody else hearing this?
I wonder how widespread this desire for leafier buds is. I also wonder if some of it isn’t related to the increasing use of machine trimmers, which produce shaggier results. Another factor might be the increasing use of vaporizers, which eliminates the harsher smoke of leaf.
Has anyone got strong opinions about how much trimming is just right? I’d really like to know the state of the art.
Thanks again.
I like to see the crystal leaf left on with the pointy end still there. Esthetically it is pleasing and you know that is a hand trim by an expert but I don’t smoke so I don’t know how that tastes.

I love this conversation on trimming. It’s such a specialized skill, yet so few people (outside of NorCal) realize that their marijuana is hand-groomed in this way before it gets to them. I also like the method behind these workshops that you mention, Kym. Hard to tell if it will be effective before you attend, but they seem to be following a grass-roots developmental model that they use in organizations like the Peace Corps. This could be a really fantastic approach for an underground industry which may have to get its legs under it relatively quickly if marijuana becomes legal in November. Informative as always, Kym. Thank you!

Tongue and Cheek,
“Indo,” the ‘hood slang term refers to Indonesia, a faraway land where it was once presumed all the best “dank” was grown. A similar term is “dosia” which also refers to Indonesia.
Some Dr. Dre lyrics to illustrate the term:
The only instance of the term “outdo” used in reference to weed was by Ice Cube in Friday which was likely written by one DJ Pooh who notoriously does wordplay on actual street terms.
(or some shit)
To get to the point, “indo” commonly refers to high-grade outdoor weed.
And that bud in the picture do have crow’s feet but country cuts ain’t always pretty.
Thanks for the proper terminology Mr. Nice, I will never confuse indo with indo again.

Fiance:
Suzy, I think I love you….you can usually always give me a giggle.
🙂 It takes a “specialized skill” called endurance.
Fiance:
Yep, I know that’s why I thought that was so funny…

Beauty is in the eye of they beholder….I’d rather have “ugly”, clean (no pesticides etc.) and quality than pretty any day. I prefer my bud like I prefer my men…

That’s closely trimmed. The little stem thingy is only exposed because the bud has just been broken open, you can almost smell the aroma that comes out when you break it like that. But wtf is with that background? Is it a science lab? The picture has the vibe of a shiny new car advertisement. If it was on tv it’d be rotating… ew! I can almost feel the hot bright lights. “Please objectify me”. It reminds me of Las Vegas. A copy, another one of those synthetic looking pot porn propaganda photos. Step right up folks, get your ticket, it’s the greatest pot show on Earth.
Or maybe that’s why you used it. To allude to the addictive commercialism, the blatant consumerism, the ugly side of it.
I don’t know Kym, but i think that many of the other photos of the herb that i see here month after month are really totally lovely, and there are also some that are way interesting newswise.

The photo was taken as the sun was nearly gone on a white tablecloth outdoors. Not one of my favorites either, Suzie.
I need someone with buds to take pity on me and let me photograph their beauties for posterity. They could have Proud Grower Syndrome without worrying about incriminating themselves. I could give them of my photos and they could just have them because they are enchanted with my work;> and collect marijuana memorabilia!
hint hint wink wink
