Hi Kym! Long time listener. First time caller. Big fan. I wanted to thank you for giving a shout-out to my blog. I’ve only just started, but your outstanding work here has been a wonderful influence. So thank you for that, too!

I thought you might be interested in some serendipity. As I mentioned, my blog is still in its infancy. I have exactly two followers, so the daily movement on my statistics bar is, shall we say, modest. So imagine my delight this morning when I checked and found that fourteen people had already visited. Fourteen! And then I discovered that they were coming from you. And now there’s even a comment from one of your readers! How fantastic!

Now, here’s where it gets strange.

I wrote two blog posts last night. One about the Gulf oil spill, which I posted. The other was inspired by you and is about Blue-Eyed Marys, which are blooming everywhere down here in Mendocino County. My intent was (and is) to post it later today and link to you as a NorCal blog I like to follow. Because, you know, I like to think I exercise a certain amount of influence on those two followers, and I’m happy to share good work.

However, upon reflecting on your outstanding photos and insightful comments last night, I realized that the flower I’ve been photographing down here lately is probably not collinsia heterophylla. So the Gulf oil spill post won out in the end. However, I will still post about my false Blue-Eyed Marys, and how you and your readers helped me to find out what my flowers are not.

Kismet, no? Thanks once again. I can’t tell you how delighted I am that you like the blog posts so far.

Jen,
I predict that your two followers will grow to many more. I’ve put you on my reader so that I’m sure not to miss one of your posts. I’m looking forward to the next one.

I’m looking forward to finding out what your false Blue-eyed Marys are.
