Helicopter in SoHum

Rumors about CAMP helicopters were flying thick and fast today.  I saw one about 12:45 over Redway.  Emerald Triangle saw one leaving Ukiah. One rumor said there was pot  carried in bags slung underneath.

I thought I’d put up a place for people to post what they saw and heard.

Don’t forget tonight is the night Anna Hamilton will be doing her show on KMUD about the economic impact of pot legalization.  8PM KMUD

BLM was using choppers to pull some major loads of garbage out of the forest today. It was a Campaign Against Marijuana PLASTIC.

Ahhh, now that makes sense. And that was a great use of taxpayer money! I only wish the growers had been responsible enough to clean up after themselves and not grow on public lands.

Someone just told me that “a giant military helicopter just landed in the cove” about 2 hours ago. Is that related to the BLM cleanup?

Sorry, Kym, to go a little off topic, but this is related to the speaker addressing the affect of legalization in our area.

Has there been (or is there any willingness) on the part of growers to have a “representative” of the industry talk with the Small Business Development Center or other economic development agencies about mitigating some of the potential negative impacts (or positioning ourselves to better take advantages of new opportunities) that may arise from legalization?

I mentioned this to one agency rep, and he poo poo’d it in a kind of “never gonna happen, they’ll never seriously talk to us” kind of way, but I still wonder… It doesn’t necessarily have to be a grower (it is not legal yet, after all), but perhaps someone familiar with the industry…

Lynette, That is a great idea. I’ll forward this to Anna Hamilton who is spearheading the What’s After Pot movement in SoHum.

I just heard that the helicopters at the Cove were related to the trash in the woods situation discussed by Kato.

A friend said, “[My husband] went up to airport to see what was going on, and he said they were military choppers, hauling in “garbage”, a old rusted rifle, propane tanks,etc..like maybe from old grow shows..putting it in dump trucks… “

do we need to clean up trash and use helicopters? the eel river clean up crew has hauled tons of trash out of the river and bushes without a helicopter. why not walk through and clean up without such military show?

Without having in all the information, it does seem like overkill. But I’d rather they were using helicopters for trash cleanup rather than pot cleanup. Although if the pot is on public land, I’m glad if they get it too.
