Missing Person
Jerry George
Missing Person Report from the Sheriff’s Office
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a McKinleyville man who was reported missing late last week. Last Friday a woman reported her boyfriend failed to return home. The man, Jerry George, 29, had gone out to friends’ house the night before but never made it home. Friends indicated he left their house on Reasor Road, McKinleyville, at about 11:45 p.m. on Thursday night. Mr. George’s friends told deputies he left on foot and they believed he was going to walk to his residence on Railroad Avenue. Mr. George has not been seen since. Friends and family members indicate it is highly unusually for Mr. George to be out of contact with them for this length of time.
Jerry George is a black male adult, 6’ 3” tall, weighing about 250 pounds. He has a tattoo on his left forearm that reads “Hauna” and one on his neck that reads “Shanda.” He also has gold teeth. George was believed to be wearing a black shirt, blue jeans, a brown jacket, and black shoes.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Jerry George should call Detective Cheryl Franco at (707) 268-3644.
Since People couldn’t see the photo (though I could) I borrowed this one from the Humboldt Mirror (thanks, bugs).
UPDATE:
Humboldt County Sheriff’s Detectives arrested a McKinleyville man this morning in connection to the disappearance of Jerry George last January. Detectives arrested Jacob Charles Steele, 21 after obtaining a $1 million warrant for his arrest for the murder of Mr. George. With the assistance of Eureka Police Department’s Problem-Oriented Policing (POP) Unit, Detectives arrested Steele at his father’s residence on the 2400 block of Union Street in Eureka. Steele was taken into custody without incident.
Mr. George was reported missing January 22, 2010 by his girlfriend after failing to return home from an acquaintances’ apartment the night before. During the nearly two-month investigation, Sheriff’s Detectives discovered evidence that led them to believe Mr. George was a victim of a homicide. Detectives conducted dozens of interviews and served several search warrants. One search warrant was served at the apartment where Mr. George was last seen, the Reasor Road residence of Jacob Steele. Steele had told deputies that Mr. George had left his apartment the night of his disappearance and he hadn’t seen him since.
Steele was booked into Humboldt County Correctional Facility on one county of murder. He is expected to be arraigned Wednesday.
The case is still under investigation and anyone with information about the case should call Detective Cheryl Franco at (707) 268-3644 or Sgt. Wayne Hanson at (707) 268-3639.

Ahhh, Mr Nice, Again you point me in the right direction. I foolishly copied the link from my Gmail account where the Sheriff’s press release comes. When I’m on, it works. When I’m not it doesn’t. So I borrowed from the Mirror.

I saw more on this on watchpaul, but rose has disabled commenting.
They arrested one guy on March 10th
Good detective work, little late tho.
“Terry Odom” identified this guy as the killer on the times-standard comment board on February 3rd
This was a few days after a “Terry Odom” was arrested at a meth lab in Arcata and coincidentally that happened the day before dude went missing.
All a coincidence prolly. Rest in peace.
The Odom arrested at the meth lab was a Terre (though misspellings are certainly easy to do) and Odom is an uncommon name. It does seem like an interesting coincidence.

You’re right, it is spelled Terre.
I guess Odom is an uncommon name… outside of Bakersfield, Fresno, Modesto, Oklahoma, etc.
Whoever posted that may have been an imposter. The fact that they knew who the suspect was immediately makes me think there is something to that.
